Joanne Fedler

Joanne Fedler is the best selling author of Secret Mothers' Business, Things Without A Name and When Hungry, Eat.

She didn't always want to be a writer, she wanted to be a judge or a politician so she could make things right in the world. Joanne studied law at Yale and is a former women's rights advocate, counselor of abused women, and CEO of a not-for-profit advocacy centre. In 2004 Hustler magazine made her 'Asshole of the Month,' for her work on violent pornography and its impact on women's equality. "I've never been so proud" says Joanne.

Her books have been published in the UK, Australia, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Croatia and South Africa. In Germany, Weiberabend (Secret Mothers' Business) was on Der Spiegel's bestseller list in 2008.

Joanne sometimes write for Vogue, teaches life-writing classes and does motivational speaking. She has worked to raise money for abused women, breast cancer research, post-natal depression and children with special needs.

She lives in Sydney with her husband and two children.

When she is not working on her abdominal muscles, drinking double shot lattes or doing housework, she is working on Secret Mothers' Business: The Reunion and a book on creative intimacy with her friend Graeme Friedman. She loves cooking without recipes, artichokes and causing mischief.

Dear Participants

Come fresh, bring no anxieties. You need no writing experience, no writing skills, no fancy notebooks. No matter how good or bad you think you are at writing, you will surprise yourself as each day, in the exquisite setting of Tuscany and Cinque Terre, we use our bodies, our senses and our imaginations to converse with the landscape, the people, the tastes and the inspirations of our surroundings.

I am so excited to facilitate this magical experience for you,

Warm wishes,

Joanne Fedler
