TESTIMONIAL
Albatross, painted petrals, terns, kelp gulls follow the MS Expedition as we leave Ushuaia through the Beagle Channel and then through The Drake Passage of 4 to 5m waves providing 2 days of entertainment until we reach the Antarctic waters of the 7th continent. Antarctica is beyond expectations and is with no doubt the trip of one´s life. It is impossible for any photograph to do any justice to the scenery, for any words to really convey the experience of being within a couple of feet of weddell seals, gentoo, adelie and chinstrap pengins, to walk in the whitest, most pristine snow to vantage points to see more of this magnificent scenery that can change from sunny to wind and snow within minutes, forth and back again, and then to calm still weather where one could hear a pin drop and see for a million miles.
The camping on Pleneau Island was out of this world with the most beautiful so called `night` where after 11:00pm I was still taking photos of the icebergs in the water and the beautiful colours of the evening light over water and snow covered weathered mountains that tower over our ship in the bay making it look like a small toy in huge flat mill pond. It was a magic night and a really wonderful and amazing, surreal experience. There was not a breathe of wind as we walked around in this divine area taking photos only feet away of weddell seals and gentoo pengins who look at as and say & die;what are you, never seen anything like you before around here? there is no fear, just real curiosity; especially from the pengins who will actually walk up to you to have a good look at this weird animal in their land for a few minutes and then waddle off back to their rookery for courting with their life long partner and getting ready to mate, then make their nest on stones for the next generation of this wonderful animal who thrives in this coldest of climates on earth.
If there is only one trip a person should do in their lifetime, it is a visit to Antarctica on the MS Expedition. - Lisa, Sydney
